Health Unit offers Food Handler Course to teach participants how to handle and prepare food safely. Upon successful completion, participants receive a certificate (valid for a period of five years) indicating they are registered as a certified food handler. Cost is $40 per person. Rotary Adventure in Citizenship Program April 29 - May 2.

The Rotary Club of LaSalle Centennial is pleased to announce a new opportunity for students in LaSalle through the Adventures in Canada Program. 

The students are sponsored by Rotary Clubs in all ten provinces and three territories and their travel costs are borne by the sponsoring clubs. To qualify, a student must be a senior high school student between 16 and 18 years of age with above-average marks, be a resident of the Town of LaSalle or a member of the Interact Club of LaSalle, and demonstrate a commitment to community leadership. A selection panel comprised of Rotary LaSalle members who are part of the Community Committee will review applications and hold interviews to select the winning candidate on February 27, 2018.

If you would like to apply to this award, you must complete the application form and submit it by February 24, 2018.

You may also provide any relevant documentation that you believe is relevant to your application (such as a transcript, a resume, letters of recommendations, news clippings of your accomplishments, etc.). This is optional.

The deadline for applications either by mail or email to the Rotary Club of LaSalle Centennial on February 24, 2018. Students will be contacted with an interview time by a member of the committee.

Near North Voices – North Bay’s University-Community Choir – continues to challenge its choristers and entertain and educate their audience with new music as they present the first concert of their 11th season of musical innovation in North Bay on February 3.

The concert will feature music by composers from countries around the Arctic Circle and showcase the talents of North Bay pianist Marilyn Sutherland, with violinist Yuchen Dai (Windsor/Waterloo), and North Bay Symphony musicians Sebastian Sallans (Toronto) – violin, Don Clysdale (Callander/North Bay) – viola, and Jordan Wyshniowsky (North Bay) – cello.

Northern Lights will take place on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 7:30 p.m., St. Andrew’s United Church, 399 Cassells St., North Bay. Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for post-secondary students with valid student I.D., available at Gulliver’s Quality Books and Toys on Main St., and at the door.
