Community Event - Cornwall - 43rd annual United Counties Science Fair
Do plants have a Circadian rhythm? Can dogs understand English? Can colour affect your memory? Want to know more about magnetic levitation, volcanoes, drippy diapers, allergies, bacteria at school, or soil erosion? These topics and more will be on display at the 43rd annual United Counties Science Fair this Saturday April 7th at Saint Lawrence Secondary School in Cornwall.
If you are the parent, aunt, uncle, or grandparent of a child attending any of the schools in the three United Counties or the district of Akwesasne then this fair is of interest to you. The “Science on the Wall” category will showcase over 200 science posters by grade 1 to 5 students and the “Science Fair” category will feature over 96 grade 6 to 10 students from 17 area schools displaying and explaining their projects. This is an excellent opportunity for you and your family to see our budding scientists, engineers, researchers, and community leaders of the future!
Public viewing will take place in the school gymnasium from 8:30am to 2:00pm, followed by a Science Spectacular show from 2:30pm to 3:30pm, then the awards presentation in the cafeteria from 4:00pm to 5:00pm. We will be awarding approximately $12,000 in prizes, awards, scholarships, and trips, including the opportunity to represent our regional fair at the week long Canada Wide Science Fair in Ottawa in May!
Come out and enjoy the science and technology on display! Everyone is welcome!
