FirstOntario Credit Union and its community partners have teamed up once again for the third annual Niagara 1Awards competition. The awards continue to recognize local entrepreneurs and help them to elevate their business. The panel of judges is looking for established local business owners who have the insight and passion to succeed and who are looking for support to make that happen.

Winners will share $115,000 in cash and in-kind services to help them execute their award-winning plans. Prizes are tailored specifically to their needs to allow for future growth and development. Past winners include Craft Arts Market, The Painted Turtle, PigOut Roasters, Tootsie’s Tune Up, El Gastronomo and Urge to Purge. In two years, FirstOntario Credit Union and 1Awards partners have invested more than $230,000 dollars into the local Niagara business landscape. Partners include The Niagara Dailies, Form & Affect, KPMG, Niagara College, Lancaster, Brooks and Welch LLP, Innovate Niagara and Niagara Region.

To be eligible for the 1Awards, small businesses must have fewer than 50 employees and have been in business for at least 24 months. These businesses must demonstrate "measureable growth", such as workforce expansion, innovation and economic impact in their local communities. Submissions are now open!

Eligible candidates must apply before Saturday, May 5, 2018.

Candidates can enter by filling out an application online at www.1AwardsNiagara.ca or by visiting FirstOntario locations in the Niagara Region.
