The Hospice of Windsor and Essex County is welcoming the public to the Hospice’s open house on Monday May 7th, 2-4pm at the Hospice Main Building located at 6038 Empress Street.

Without the support of volunteers, The Hospice would not be able to offer its many programs and services at no cost to the Windsor-Essex community. Volunteers are the heart of Hospice. There are many volunteer opportunities available such as:

•           Visiting to patients at home during the daytime hours

•           Provide Therapeutic Touch or Reiki

•           Provide transportation with your own car or drive the Hospice Van

•           Residential Home on site at Hospice – weekend 4 hour shifts are available

•           Volunteers to provide practical needs in the patient’s home

•           Overnight and evening support to patients

•           Lottery Booth attendants located at Caesars Windsor

•           Administrative volunteers proficient in Microsoft Office programs

There will be an information session held at 2:15pm in the south auditorium. Please RSVP to Sue MacTaggart at smactaggart@thehospice.ca.

Public Notices/Announcements - Windsor/Leamington - Celebrate Earth Day

Windsor and Essex County are celebrating Earth Day 2018 by crushing plastics. Plastics are one of the biggest polluters of our land and waterways. Earth Day 2018 will focus on working to change human attitudes and behaviour about plastics and hopefully ignite a significant reduction in plastic pollution around the world.

Windsor and Essex County residents can join this movement and learn more by taking part in Earth Day activities, Sunday, April 22 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Malden Park.

This event is free for the public. There will be over 40 environmental exhibits; wildflower planting; arts and crafts; a nature scavenger hunt; and many more environmental activities!  Participants are also encouraged to bring an old t-shirt to make a “no-sew tote bag.”

More than 30 different organizations participate in this event, designed to provide a voice and venue to environmental causes. Earth Day Windsor Essex has been celebrated since 1989.

Walk Wheel Windsor will be there this year hoping to hear from you on active transportation needs and they encourage you to arrive car free if you can.

Visit www.citywindsor.ca for more information.
