Join Geoff Taylor at the Champlain Trail Museum and Pioneer Village on Saturday November 4th at 1 pm as he presents on his novel “Tom Thomson’s Last Bonfire”.

Just in time for the 100th anniversary of Thomson’s passing, Burnstown Publishing House releases Tom Thomson’s Last Bonfire by Geoff Taylor (232 pages, illustrated) a fresh and unique exploration of the twenty-four hours that followed the discovery of Thomson’s drowned corpse.

Tom Thomson’s Last Bonfire adheres strictly to the tight story line of those twenty four hours. It is a novel, creative conjecture based on extensive research into the people and the place and the times. It is an original take on a Canadian myth. The characters, deeply and sympathetically drawn, shed new light on the man Thomson was in life, before he became an icon in the Canadian imagination.

Admission is by donation to this speaker’s event. The talk will take place inside Founders Hall in the main building of the Champlain Trail Museum and Pioneer Village. Signed copies of the book will be available for purchase for $25 each.

The Champlain Trail Museum and Pioneer Village is the largest Museum in Renfrew County with more than 10,000 artifacts among its collection.  Located in Pembroke, the Museum is owned and operated by the Ottawa Valley Historical Society and is funded by the municipalities of Pembroke and Laurentian Valley.  For more information, please contact the Museum at 613-735-0517, or email curator@champlaintrailmuseum.com.
