FREE: Disability Related Financial & Future Planning Events! Do you or a loved one in your family have a disability? Have you thought about long term savings? Have you thought about having a will with the right safeguards in place for the future?  If so, come out to one or both of these information sessions: Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP) OR Dollars & Sense, Will & Estate Planning. Both learning events will be presented by lawyer, Brendon Pooran, who specializes in Disability Law. There will be time for questions, answers and voicing concerns you have for the future.

The Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP) is a Canada-wide registered matched savings plan specific for people with disabilities. It is designed as a long-term savings plan. The money can be invested to grow in a tax deferred environment and provides matching federal contributions up to 300% annually. Depending on someone’s income, money saved can immediately triple in value.

The Dollars & Sense, Wills and Estate Planning event will include important topics like Trusts (Discretionary/Henson, etc.); ODSP (Ontario Disability Support Program); supported decision making; power of attorney; guardianship; home ownership; life insurance and more.

Community Event - Windsor/Leamington - House of Sophrosyne Women of Music Concert

House of Sophrosyne is hosting an International Women's Day Concert with musicians Sarah Smith ( London), Crissi Cochrane, Tara Watts, Twisted Sisters, The Van Lares and Lady J'ai Mac on March 3, 6pm at Rockstar Music Hall, 2418 Central Ave. All money raised from the concert will be donated to their "Building for Recovery" campaign to help women with addictions and to help raise awareness of addictions in our community. Tickets are $10 at Rockstar Music Hall or at www.ticketscene.ca.

Community Event - Windsor/Leamington - International Women's Day Celebration

The Fogolar Furlan Women's Association is hosting an event for International Women's Day. The event will be held on Friday, March 2 at the Fogolar Furlan, 1800 North Service Road. Dinner will be served at 7pm. The event includes vendor tables, Chinese raffle and lock-box raffle, and a fashion show. The tickets are $45 for adults and $30 for youth 12 and under. Proceeds to benefit the "Our Lady of Guadalupe Home of Windsor". For more information or to buy tickets, contact the Fogolar Office at 519-966-2230.

Community Event - Windsor/Leamington - World Day of Prayer Service March 2 at 1:30pm

World Day of Prayer is a global movement of Christian women calling to prayer and action for peace and justice on every first Friday of March and throughout the year. This year, St. Matthew’s Anglican Church is hosting the service for churches in our region, with participation of a number of other local parishes, using a service written by women of Suriname in South America on March 2 at 1:30pm. Through the prayers and presentations in the service, we will learn about the impacts of climate change and environmental degradation especially on the poor and marginalized, using the situation in Suriname and other areas in the Amazon rainforest region as an example. Community Event - Kingston - Teddy Bear Hospital Family Day Program

Discover one of the Museum of Health Care's most beloved programs this Family Day, Monday February 19th. Bring your teddy bear or other special stuffed animal to the Museum of Health Care where trained “teddy doctors and nurses” will be on hand to examine and treat your toy's bumps, lumps, and bruises. Learn, laugh, and find out why doctors and hospitals aren't so scary after all! The event will include a special story time, tasty snacks provided by Card’s Bakery, and a hands-on craft activity. Suitable for ages 3-8, with adult accompaniment.

Two sessions available: 10:30 am to 12:00 pm OR 1:00 to 2:30 pm
Cost: $5/child (no charge for adults)
