My Home My Choice, 2018 - MOVIES & MORE!  A event for people, families, friends, professionals – anyone interested in learning what people living with disabilities have done to: create affordable, accessible, individualized home options and a meaningful, everyday life after high school.  Examples include:  visioning to taking a first step; getting started with a plan and then changing things along the way; renovating, purchasing and/or renting; having active and valued roles in the neighbourhood and community.

What does it take? It takes: partners and professionals from independent facilitators to local service providers; government programs to private contractors; the use of technology.  And most importantly – it takes: friends, family, supportive neighbours, and others who care! Why wait for the government, it’s time to develop a vision, and take a first step. Come out to see how others did this?

What you can expect along with food, fun, movies and networking:

  • Local stories about home options with time for questions and friendly conversations
  • The latest information on current affordable housing programs: Ontario Renovates, rent supplements, etc.
  • Real examples of friendly neighbours and others in people’s lives – and the difference this makes.
  • Ideas for technology to help with safety and more independence in the home that have been ‘tried and tested’ by others
  • Tools and suggestions for developing a vision
  • Get a chance to ask questions, pick up good resources with more information, and gain more knowledge.

Come out on Wednesday, March 21 at 5:30pm to 9:00pm Atonement Family Centre, 2940 Forest Glade Dr, Windsor. Be sure to register by March 16 by visiting windsoressexfamnet.ca/upcoming-events/ Check out our website for more details about this event!
