The Queen's Emotions and Risky Behaviour in Youth (QuERBY) Lab is currently recruiting adolescents aged 13-19 for a study that seeks to better understand suicide risk in this age group. This study has been approved by the university's ethics board (TRAQ # 6038354).

To be eligible for this study, you must:

  1. Be 13 to 19 years old
  2. Had recent suicidal thoughts
  3. Be able to read and write fluently in English
  4. Have access to a laptop or computer with access to WiFi and Zoom
  5. Have access to a Smartphone with a reliable data plan or access to WiFi
  6. Have 20/20 or corrected vision
  7. Have a parent/guardian who is willing to provide informed consent and be an emergency contact (for those below 15 years old)
  8. Provide an emergency contact (for those 15 years old and above)

Participants will receive an Amazon e-gift card or SONA credits to thank them for their time and contribution to our study.

CARLETON PLACE –APRIL 27, 2025 (1pm-6pm) Dancing Down Memory Lane.  The Alzheimer Society Lanark Leeds Grenville and presenting sponsor, SCI Ottawa Valley Chapter invite you to wear your blue and come out and enjoy an afternoon of music and dancing, hosted by the incredible Charlie Kitts! There will be a canteen, a cash bar, photo booth courtesy of Now Forever Photography, amazing silent auction featuring incredible lots like a brand-new BBQ donated by RONA Carleton Place and a signed Maple Leaf Jersey donated by Maple Leaf Sports. Our friends at the Carleton Place & District Civitan will be on hand with a 50/50 draw too! Tickets are on sale now for only $20! With special performances by Harry & Cheryl Adrain, Brownie & friends, Mitch Barker & Brittany Bain with John Kot and other local musicians it is sure to be an incredible afternoon. Doors open at 1pm and the show starts at 2pm. Special thanks to the Town of Carleton Place and Carleton Place Tim Hortons for their support of this event. The Alzheimer Society Lanark Leeds Grenville is a non-profit organization operating free and low-cost programming, education, respite and support groups throughout Lanark, Leeds, and Grenville. We have offices in Carleton Place, Almonte, Smiths Falls, Perth and Brockville. There are currently over 4000 people living in Lanark, Leeds & Grenville with a diagnosis and that number does not include family members and care givers. We see over 10,000 visitors in our local programs each year and that number is growing. Community-based fundraising events are wonderful opportunities to come together and support a great cause. This session is for everyone: women, their partners, other family members and anyone interested in learning more about this often- underestimated health risk.

St John's Anglican Church Thorold is hosting a local food vendors plus cafe and community on Sunday April 6th from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. at 12 Carleton St South, Thorold. We will be selling our beef, chicken & turkey pies, soups and loaves plus seafood, cabbage rolls, meat on a stick, chocolate, cheeses, jams & jellies and more.
