Community Event - North Bay - INFORMATION SESSION - Helping the homeless

The Compassionate Committee for the Homeless in North Bay has partnered with Trinity United Church to offer our second annual information session entitled “What you need to know about helping people who are experiencing homelessness.” Frontline organizations and Experts by Experience will be attending and include:

  • Tawnia Healy, Community Health Promoter, Healthy Living Program, North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unity, and Bryan Eade, Expert by Experience (“See the Person”)
  • John MacKenzie, Supervisor, Outreach Services, Nipissing First Nation, True Self Debwewendizwin, (Outreach Services)
  • Stephen Ellis, Outreach Peer Worker, True Self Debwewendizwin (Expert by Experience)

Please join us on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Trinity United Church, 111 McIntyre Street East, in the Sanctuary, doors open at 6:30 p.m. You will learn from frontline organizations and those who experienced homelessness how they support people experiencing homelessness in North Bay, what they observe, and an opportunity to ask questions.

Those attending the information session are encouraged to donate hats, mitts, warm socks, scarves, or monetary donations for the purchase of boots and shoes in support of the Winter Boot Campaign which will take place on Saturday, December 2, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pro-Cathedral of the Assumption on 480 McIntyre Street West.

Enjoy the Burlington Festival of Lights from the rooftop at Joseph Brant Museum during the Candlelit Stroll on November 24 and every Thursday evening thereafter until December 28, 6-9 pm. We’ll be serving FREE hot chocolate and popcorn. Please note, museum galleries are closed during this event.

Community Event - Burlington/Oakville - A Night at Ireland House - December 1

Step back in time and celebrate the holidays the Victorian way during “A Night At Ireland House”! Guests will spend the evening sampling traditional Victorian foods served from the hearth and woodstove while touring the Museum. There will also be the opportunity to sip local wine and craft beer along the way while listening to carolers and roasting chestnuts on an open fire. There are two time slots available to book: 6pm & 7:30pm.

Tickets are $55/person and must be purchased in advance, 19 years +. Please dress for the weather as a portion of your experience will take place outdoors. Ticket includes wine and beer sampling, food sampling, and historic home tour.
