St James Church presents “Advent to Christmas: a candlelight service of
readings and music” on Sunday 11 December at 4:30pm. A selection of
seasonal hymns will be sung, and the choir will sing anthems by Andre
Thomas and John Joubert. Following the service there will be a hot apple
cider reception. St James Church is at 10 Union St in Kingston. Visit
stjameskingston.ca or call 613-548-7254.
The service symbolizes the journey from Advent to Christmas, from the
Old Testament to the New, from darkness to light. The readings and music
will explore the themes of creation and re-creation in the context of
ancient prophecies, the birth of Christ, and visions for the future.
