Whittling Club – Paying homage to trench art of the Great World War, this class will return to the basics and learn the skill of whittling. Participants will learn the fundamentals of wood whittling with local experts the Triple “C” Carvers. Family Sunday Activity: Winter Trees and Snowy Owls – Engage, discover, and create every Sunday afternoon from 1:00–3:00PM. Create snowy scenes with snowy owls by using tape, paint and your fingertips. Free. $5 Suggested Material Donation per family. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Calligraphy for Beginners with Janet Leonard – This class is for beginners who want to learn how to add a special flare to their handwritten notes. Janet will expertly lead participants through the process of learning the italic calligraphy style using felt pens. Learn how to sit properly, angle your paper, and hold the pen to achieve the greatest effect. Participants will learn the whole alphabet, upper and lower case and learn about decorative motifs and borders. The session will end with each participant creating postcards to be mailed to deployed troops. Art and War with Scott Waters – Scott Waters will speak about the history of the Canadian Forces Artists Program, his experience as an active war artist and deployed soldier, as well as his current role on the advisory and selections committee. Learn about the impact the program has had on Scott’s work, how he had evolved as an artist and what his hopes are for the future of the program. Scott Waters was born in Preston, England, and lived in South Africa before immigrating to Canada. He currently lives in Toronto, and previously served in The Canadian Armed Forces.
