Amherstburg Freedom Museum in partnership with the River Bookshop is hosting a week of fantastic Black History activities in February including an author talk with Desmond Cole, Q&A with Wayne Embry, presentations by local historians, story time for kids & art exhibit. All events are free to the public, EXCEPT for the Windsor Symphony Orchestra concert on February 3rd. Tickets for the WSO concert are $30 and can be purchased at amherstburgfreedom.org and at the Amherstburg Freedom Museum (277 King St., Amherstburg). As part of the Amherstburg Freedom Museum's Black History Month programming, we have partnered with River Bookshop and Windsor Symphony Orchestra to host "Celebrating Black Voices: The Chevalier de St. Georges" featuring the Windsor Symphony Orchestra, WSO Concertmaster Lillian Scheirich and Vocalist Florine Ndimubandi. The Hometown Run for Youth Special Olympics features a 10km and 5km run as well as a 1km family fun run/walk.
