Lighthouse offers free grief support services to children and youth, ages 3-19 years, who have experienced the death of a parent or sibling. Groups are available in-person and online, and they are open-ended, so families can stay for as long as they need, to actively explore their grief in their own time.

Peterborough Historical Society virtual Zoom lecture.  The automobile's impact on society and the economy has been pervasive.  Think of the petroleum industry, urban and suburban development, highway infrastructure, rural connectivity, leisure, recreation, travel, tourism. Domestic architecture and landscape have not escaped the automobile's transformative power.  Jennifer Guerin, Heritage Researcher for the City of Peterborough, examines the hitherto unexplored development of the garage as a stand-alone structure and its evolution as an integral part of house design. Tuesday, 20 September 2022, 7:30 p.m. on Zoom.  Register to attend by sending an email note to Info@peterboroughhistoricalsociety.ca with "Garage" in the subject line.

Community Event - Muskoka - Huntsville/Deerhurst 125 Tourism Legacy

As the first summer resort in Huntsville, Deerhurst Resort’s importance to our
town’s growth as a tourism destination has continually evolved since opening its doors in 1896.

In the early days, Huntsville and Deerhurst were connected by the steamboats
of the Huntsville Lake of Bays Navigation Company which made both
passenger travel and delivery of supplies possible.

This connection is now being commemorated with matching Muskoka chair
murals illustrating each side of that historic steamboat journey enjoyed by generations of travellers to Huntsville.

Today, the connection between town and resort remains as strong as and more
important than ever. With its spectacular growth over 125 years, Deerhurst
Resort remains one of Huntsville’s major employers and its largest tourism
driver, with an economic impact that benefits all sectors.
