Public Notices/Announcements - North Bay - Mural added to Family of Rotary’s Splash Pad
A colourful new piece of artwork is coming to of the Family of Rotary’s Splash Pad.
Local artist Laura Peturson started painting a mural this week on the exterior of the Family of Rotary’s Splash Pad storage and washroom buildings. Part of the second and final phase of the splash pad facility, the artwork was coordinated by the local family of Rotary Clubs with the assistance of Creative Industries.
“I’m really excited to be able to create something children and families in North Bay will be able to enjoy,” said Peturson, an Associate Professor Fine Arts/Performing Arts at Nipissing University.
Work on the mural, which depicts a vibrant pattern of great blue heron and walleye, began early this week with an outline. Peturson has spent the past few days adding detail and colour.
The artwork is being added as other final pieces of the splash pad are completed, including installation of sun shelters, picnic tables, additional benches, two outdoor park musical instruments and signage. This latest phase of the project is being funded by the family of Rotary and Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corp.
“Rotary is extremely pleased to be working with a local artist in order to put some of the final touches to the splash pad,” said Tony Limina, co-chair of the project. “This mural will enhance the facility and we’re excited to see it completed.”
