The Municipality of Leamington has begun work on the John Street sewer separation and road reconstruction project. The project is estimated to continue through to November 2020.

For the duration of the project, Queens Avenue from Talbot Street West to John Street, and John Street from Queens Avenue to Erie Street North will be closed to vehicular traffic. Access for local area residents will be maintained; however, no through traffic will be permitted. 

Access to area businesses will remain open throughout the duration of construction. The Queens Avenue parking lot will remain open and accessible via Clark Street West to Queens Avenue.

All work operations and lane closures are weather dependent and subject to change.

The “Rotary At Work 50/50” is an online draw in support of Easter Seals Ontario raising crucial funds for kids with physical disabilities in response to the postponement of Easter Seals’ major spring fundraisers.

"We had high hopes for fundraising this year as an Ambassador for Easter Seals,” shares Tanya Harrison, whose
son Alex Bondy is Windsor-Essex’s Male Easter Seals Ambassador for 2020, “but as the Telethon had to be
postponed due to COVID-19, kids like Alex need your help more than ever."

The online 50/50 draw began in Sault Ste. Marie but has gained the support of Easter Seals’ communities across
the province as Ontarians work together to help kids be kids.

Anyone in Ontario interested in supporting Easter Seals kids can purchase 50/50 tickets from www.rotaryssm5050.ca. One winner will be drawn at 4 P.M. on Wednesday, July 15, 2020. The prize pot is already over $1,000 and growing! Tickets are 3 for $5, 10 for $10, or 60 for $20.

The roundabout at Sandwich Street will be closed for paving, and the work will result in the following road closures in the vicinity:

·Sandwich Street closed east of Mill Street.

·Riverside Drive West and University Avenue West closed west of Huron Church Road. 

·Rosedale Avenue closed north of Peter Street.

Detours will be posted.

7am to 7pm, Friday, July 10, Tuesday, July 14 and Wednesday, July 15.

The intersection of Parent Avenue and Ottawa Street will have lane reductions in all directions for sidewalk repairs from 7am to 7pm on Monday, July 13 and Tuesday, July 14.
