Quinte Trash Bash Postponed Until Further Notice

On Behalf of the Quinte Trash Bash Planning Committee

BELLEVILLE – Due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, the Quinte Trash Bash planning committee has decided to postpone the annual event until further notice to help ensure the safety of residents and volunteers.

Held each spring for the last 20 years, the Quinte Trash Bash brings people together to clean up roadsides, parks and sidewalks in Belleville, Prince Edward County, Quinte West and Tyendinaga Township. Participation is strong every year with thousands of residents, schools, businesses and groups volunteering their time to clean up the region.

Litter is especially visible this time of year and a number of residents are collecting garbage along trails and sidewalks when out for a walk. This is a great way to stay active but please follow these precautions: wear gloves, use a garbage picker if you have one, practice physical distancing of at least two metres apart from others and wash your hands with soap and water as soon as you get home.

For updates on this event, please visit our official website at www.quintetrashbash.ca.

The suspension of recreational (campfire) permits will continue for Chatham-Kent.

The ban has been extended and remains in place as at this time, as none of the community safety controls put in place locally, provincially or federally have been lifted yet.

CKFES has been monitoring the situation and will continue await notification from provincial and federal levels of government for when community safety controls are to be amended. When this happens, the suspension will be reviewed.

Public Notices/Announcements - Burlington/Oakville - Carpenter Hospice Seeking Volunteer Board Members

Interested in joining our Board of Directors?

Carpenter Hospice has been a vital part of the Burlington community for the last 18 years. Over 2,700 individuals have spent their final days in our care since we first opened our doors in 2002. Since opening, our programs have expanded to include community-based programs for people dealing with grief and/or a life-limiting illness.

Our Burlington community is growing and it is aging. Palliative care is also changing – it is about supporting people right from the time of life-limiting diagnosis through to their final days and supporting their loved ones. However, we know serving 200 residents and their families each year in hospice is not nearly enough. This is why we are creating a Centre of Excellence in Palliative Care for Burlington residents to ensure we provide our community the end-of-life care it needs offering the right care, at the right time, and in the right place.

This is our vision for the Centre of Excellence in Palliative Care – to offer more people more options for their end-of-life care – whether it be in their own home or in hospice.

We need you!

The Carpenter Hospice is governed by a community-member volunteer Board of Directors that give their time and talent to provide strategic guidance and oversight to the organization. To complement the existing Board of Directors’ background, the Board is currently seeking members from within our community able to contribute within the following experience profiles:

  • Fundraising: with connections to the Burlington business/philanthropic community
  • Finance & Accounting: preference to those with CA, CPA designations

If you are interested in joining our Board, please submit a cover letter and resume package to the attention of our Governance Committee Chair by email to admin@thecarpenterhospice.com.
