Community Event - Niagara - Niagara Kung Fu to Host Malas for Mental Health
A crafting and meditation workshop. Proceeds will be donated to the Canadian Mental Health Association. THERE IS LIMITED SPACE only 25 spots.
WHO IS IT FOR?
Anyone interested in making a set of mala beads either for themselves or someone else, or who wishes to come have fun, learn a new craft, all for a good cause. Ages 14+ NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED.
We *may* be offering a kids version, but stay tuned for details on that
We'll start with a short 10-15 minute introduction to meditation before we begin crafting, and we'll teach you how beads can be used for meditation.
All the materials you need will be provided for you, but you are welcome to bring a charm from home if you wish to work it into your mala.
You will choose what goes on your mala from a wide variety of provided stone and wood beads. Many extra supplies will be provided for you to make your mala truly your own.
We'll show 2 basic ways to string your beads and a few different ways to finish them, adding charms or tassels if you wish.
You can make a necklace which traditionally has 108 beads, or you can make up to 4 elastic beaded bracelets. It's ultimately up to you what you make as there are no hard, fast rules about what a mala needs to be.
See the event photo for some of the finished products that people who came to this workshop have made before.
