A great book is a treasure one can discover again and again. Readers from Windsor and Essex County are invited to hunt out their next great read at the Raise-a-Reader Book Sale happening May 5 at Windsor Crossing Premium Outlets, 1555 Talbot Road, Windsor.

Thousands of books – new and slightly used – have been collected, sorted and readied for the book sale. The vast collection of books will offer something for everyone. Numerous children’s books, fiction and non-fiction books are available at great prices!

Windsor Crossing continues to be a great support for Raise-A-Reader, "We are proud to once again be hosting the Raise-A -Reader event at Windsor Crossing Premium Outlets”, says MJ Huxley, Windsor Crossings marketing manager. “RAR is a good news story for literacy in the Windsor and surrounding area. We are excited to welcome everyone and help support this great cause”.

Book Sale hours are Saturday, May 5th from 9am-6pm Cash purchases only.

Over the past seven years, the book sale raised $152,700 for local literacy initiatives thanks to the generous donations by the community. “Windsor-Essex is one of the most giving communities in the country dontating hundreds of thousands of books to the sale over the years”, said Beverly Becker director of local marketing for the Windsor Star. “Book lovers come from near and far and buy books by the dozens.”

Windsor Star Raise-a-Reader campaign is part of the award-winning national fundraising initiative of the Postmedia Foundation. It is a unique philanthropic program that increases awareness and raises money and other resources in support of family literacy programs.

Since its inception in 2002, more than $791,000 been raised in Windsor-Essex for local literacy initiatives by the program.
