The second annual Tecumseh Earth Day Celebration will take place Sunday, April 22, 10-11:30 a.m. at Lakewood Park South.

“We held our first Earth Day celebration last year and it was a resounding success,” said Gary McNamara, Mayor of Tecumseh. “This year we are grateful for the support of Essex Powerlines to build on last year’s success.”

This year the Town is inviting residents to bring their shovels and boots and help plant trees in the naturalization area begun at last year’s Earth Day event in Lakewood Park. The Tecumseh Youth Advisory Committee will lead family friendly activities. In addition, there will be other environmental information shared by Parks staff who will be on hand to help with the tree planting and answer questions about the Town’s initiatives to increase natural areas within the parks.

The event is free and weather permitting.

Essex Powerlines recently ran a campaign encouraging residents to switch to paperless billing. The company agreed to plant a tree for every resident that switched to paperless in Tecumseh, LaSalle, Amherstburg and Leamington. As a result of this project, 1,000 trees will be planted in the four municipalities including ones in Lakewood Park.

“Essex Powerlines is extremely proud of the community’s support and commitment to this great initiative,” stated Joe Barile, General Manager. “We are truly making the community greener together. Thank you to the Town of Tecumseh and its residents for making the Go Green, Plant a Tree Campaign an outstanding success!”

This show is dedicated to our Beloved Mary Barklay, our own special Betty Brown. Back by popular demand, it is a must see for any Sinatra Fan! Our story takes place in 1993, five years before Franks's death. It includes the uplifting, humorous and poignant recollections, of five devoted fans of Sinatra, who had actual, personal, interactions with him. Their memories are intertwined with the portrayal of the man himself by Kingston's own "A Bit of  Nostalgia". Ryan, our first Canadian Idol, portrays "The Voice", Reagan plays "Old Blue Eyes", and John as "The Chairman of the Board".

The Sinatra signature renditions takes the audience on an unforgettable musical journey. Get an intimate insight into the man behind the music.
