NEWCOMER WELCOME FAIR

Adult Language and Learning has organized the Newcomer Welcome Fair to provide information and support to our immigrants and newcomers in Chatham-Kent by introducing them to various services and organizations in our communities.
Over 20 community organizations, service providers, government agencies, and community groups will be present on Wednesday to provide newcomers with information on possible employment or volunteer opportunities and services available to them in Chatham-Kent and Canada.
All our settlement services are funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development.
Community Event - Cobourg/Port Hope - Active Fit and Fun Hybrid, Starting Sept 10-Dec 17
Designed for community members ages 55+ who are wishing to improve their cardio, strength, balance and flexibility regardless of their current ability level. The program will be led by trained volunteers, who ensure the program is run in a safe manner. Classes can be done seated or standing. Don't want to exercise alone? Join the instructor virtually from our Centre in room 205.
Community Event - Cobourg/Port Hope - Youth Drop In (Gr 7-12)
This after-school program is provided to youth in grades 7 to 12 every Tuesday starting at 2:45pm. This program is offered in partnership with the Municipality of Port Hope and Port Hope High School
Community Event - Niagara - 19th Annual Suicide Awareness Walk
Distress Centre Niagara will be holding our 19th Annual Suicide Awareness Walk in observance of World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10th. The purpose of this fundraising event is to support individuals that have been impacted by suicide, to increase awareness in our community of this difficult subject and to help us raise important funds that will allow us to continue to offer our telephone and online chat and text support programs to anyone in need.
The event will take place on Tuesday September 10th at Market Square in downtown St. Catharines (91 King St). Registration will begin at 6:30pm with the event starting at 7:00pm.
The event is all ages and open to the public. We encourage you to pass this event information on to others.

The Powerful Tools for Caregivers (PTC) is a free six week workshop for caregivers of adults with chronic conditions.
Caring for a family member or friend with a chronic condition can by physically, emotionally and financially draining. This highly-effective, evidence-based, self-care educational program for family caregivers builds the skills caregivers need to take better care of themselves as they provide care for others.
