SPRING CONCERT ON SUNDAY, APRIL 21 – PEMBROKE COMMUNITY CHOIR
The Pembroke Community Choir invites you to their spring concert of the beautiful and moving Brahms’ Requiem (sung in English). This is one of the most frequently performed choral works sung by both professional and regional choirs. The 60-voice choir and two soloists will be accompanied by an eight-piece chamber ensemble of strings, woodwinds, and piano. One performance only on Sunday, April 21 at 7 pm at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 357 Miller Street, (corner of Miller and Doran), Pembroke. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door; students 13 and under are free. They may be purchased until Thursday, April 18 from choir members, at the Pembroke Mall’s Customer Care Centre, and at Fleurish Floral Designs in Petawawa. Community Event - Sarnia - Fibre & Fabric Fusions at Gallery in the Grove
Gallery in the Grove opens Fibre & Fabric Fusions on Saturday, March 30th. Opening reception is 11am-2pm with the artists in attendance. Patti Cook displays her wool and fabric artwork in the West Gallery and The Fibre Arts Collective - Simone Vojvodin, Cheryl Laakes, Karen Rutledge, and Cydna Kay display their wool, fabric and rug hooking artwork in the East Gallery. Community Event - Peterborough/Lindsay - Kawartha String Orchestra - Spring Concert
The Kawartha String Orchestra (KSO) is pleased to present their annual spring concert on Sunday May 5 starting at 2pm at Emmanuel United Church (534 George St N, Peterborough).
The theme of this year's spring concert is "Innovation and Tradition". Award-winning conductor and music director Tak Kwan and the KSO will play selections from Mozart, Elgar, BanYa, as well as the movie music of Hans Zimmer. Guest soloists include Tak Kwan (violin), Rebecca Birrell (vocals), Pamela Haskell (flute), Ron Kervin (percussion), and Karen Locklin (keyboard).
Admission is free; donations to YES Shelter for Youth and Families are gratefully accepted.
