Join us for this fundraiser cooking demo by Mackie's Golden Meals where participants will get to observe how Jamaican Chicken Stew is made. Participants are encouraged to pay by donation and all size of donations are welcome. Help Mackie's Golden Meals achieve their dream of acquiring a food truck so that they can bring the Caribbean flavours all over Renfrew County. Care 2 Share? Local restaurants support nutrition month campaign to feed hungry students. For the month of March, a group of over 20 local restaurants and three hotels are encouraging their customers to consider making a donation to The Food Sharing Project, the local charity that provides nutritious food to school meal programs. Partner restaurants are placing Care 2 Share? donation cards on their tables or counters that include information about the need and a QR code to make a donation. BMS2000 is a cooperative project by 24 Quebec genealogy societies to establish a common database containing 16.6 million birth, marriage & burial records.  This database is now available on a dedicated computer in our library.  Our presenter, Pam Tessier, will be giving us instructions and tips on how to use and get great results from this website to help you find your Quebec ancestors.

HOW TO BEGIN RESEARCHING YOUR FRENCH-CANADIAN ANCESTORS

This beginner’s course, being taught by an experienced researcher, will introduce you to the ins and outs of basic French-Canadian research using library resources and online databases.  Space is limited to six people on a first-come basis.  Register by Thursday, March 23rd.  Fee will be $8.00 for non-members or $5.00 for Nipissing Branch members.  Registration can be by cash, cheque or e-transfer.  Please contact Pam Tessier at pltessier@gmail.com to register.

PAGES returns for a three part Spring series. This month, PAGES celebrates National Poetry Month with an invitation for you to join in the joy of local writers settled into ‘The Poet’s Corner’. Hear why and how they write in poem. Come and be inspired. Leave with a poem in your heart. Richard M. Grove, Brighton's official Poet Laureate and Roz Bound, author of two memoirs in poem: Spirit of Lyme and the Fireman's Daughter, will be on hand.
