The City understands how important the transit services are for our community and have taken new precautions to continue.

City Transit has modified services:

Effective Monday, March 30, 2020, Brockville Transit will continue with the modified transit service and only operate the “Evening Route” (Yellow). Starting 6:45 am and will operate on a 30-minute (loop) route until 6pm. 6pm to 9pm is on an hourly (loop) service. The Blue, Red and Green Routes will not be in operation.

  • 40-Ride Passes are to be returned into the fare box by the rider when presented.
  • The Transit Driver will issue the rider 40 paper tickets. This removes the need for physical interaction between rider and driver.
  • People will be able to transfer busses very easily, however, the actual paper transfer will no longer be issued.
  • As a safety precaution, additional cleaning of busses will also take place.
  • Other transit related information can be found here: https://brockville.com/transit

Public Notices/Announcements - Brockville/Prescott - No Blue Box Collection in Brockville Mar 30-Apr 10

To protect the health and safety of our front-line workers, please note that from the weeks of March 30th to April 3rd AND April 6th to the 11th, there will be No curbside collection of recyclable (blue box) materials in the City of Brockville. Garbage collection will continue as scheduled*.

Many blue box materials carry the risk of contamination by the coronavirus and are handled in close contact by the collection staff. Therefore, to reduce the risk, recycling collection will cease for the next 2 weeks, and the situation will be re-assessed at that time.

Garbage collection will continue, and any loose garbage (ie. in garbage cans) MUST be bagged and tied closed in order to be collected. Loose garbage will not be handled by collection staff. In addition, please try to double-bag any tissues, gloves, masks, and hygiene products within the garbage for extra protection.

The public recycling containers at the Waste Management Transfer Station (on California Avenue) will also be closed at this time as well due to the amount of people who have congregated in close proximity at the bins. This is to ensure safety for the public and for staff.

It is recommended that extra recyclable materials be stored until blue box collection can resume. This time also allows the risk of contamination to lower.

* please note that there is no collection on Good Friday, it is moved to Saturday, April 11th; and
** please also note that garbage collection WILL RUN on Monday, April 13th (no change due to Easter Monday).

The East Peterborough Lions are holding an online auction to help raise awareness and funds for Lion Foundation of Canada (L.F.C.). Lions Foundation of Canada's mission is to assist Canadians with a medical or physical disability by providing them Dog Guides at no cost. To do this, the Foundation operates Dog Guides Canada, a preeminent national training school and charity that assists individuals with disabilities through specialized Dog Guide programs. These Dog Guides are provided at no cost to eligible Canadians from coast to coast despite costing $25,000 to train and place. The Foundation relies on donations from individuals, service clubs, foundations and corporations and does not receive any government funding.

This auction is our way to help those in our community who's lives will be enhanced with the aid of a Dog Guide.
