Members of Essex Town Council will welcome citizens to two open houses happening in June.

These meetings will give citizens the chance to learn about issues they care about and ask questions of Council.

Two open houses are planned for Tuesday, June 25 and Wednesday, June 26. Ward Councillors will make a brief presentation to update citizens on ongoing projects, as well as outline their plans for 2019 and beyond.

The presentations will be followed by question and answer periods, with Town staff on hand to provide support. Snacks, coffee, and water will be provided at the meeting.

On Tuesday, June 25, citizens of Wards 3 and 4 are invited to meet with Councillors Steve Bjorkman (Ward 3), Chris Vander Doelen (Ward 3), and Sherry Bondy (Ward 4) at the Colchester Community Centre, 100 Jackson Street, Colchester Centre. Doors open at 6:30pm, presentations begin at 7:00pm.

Let your child make his or her own simple plaque, to hang on their bedroom door, your living room wall, or wherever. Simple tasks for little kids and more detailed work for bigger kids. Pick a shape, prefinished or not, and see what he/she can do.

Children age 2 to 16 can select a precut plaque and decorate it any way they want. Little kids will start with a prefinished plaque and just decorate it. Older kids can start with a prefinished plaque, or do the initial painting or staining themselves, then decorate and customize it any way they want. How long it takes depends on how much your child wants to do, and how long you want to stay, but usually takes between 30 minutes and 2 hours.

You can choose to come to the workshop at noon or at 3pm on Saturday July 6. Class sizes are limited to 3 children with 1 adult each. Cost is $12.
