The Municipality of Port Hope and our community partners are hosting the Port Hope Arts Festival on Saturday August 10.

Between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., the event will feature a 10-Minute Play Series, Art Around Town, an outdoor vendor market, wagon rides, and a community gathering in the park. You can expect activities for the kids, live music, food vendors and other fun surprises!

The 2024 itinerary offers a variety of free experiences to help connect us as friends, neighbours and Canadians this July. Event attendees can expect traditional event components, such as the fireworks display, car show and community gathering. New this year, will be a Sugarbush Breakfast in the park and activity stations on Queen Street. Yes, the Canada Day Parade is taking place - please note the route change! Join us in Port Hope for an outdoor movie in Memorial Park this summer - on five different dates. 

Port Hope's Movies in the Park series presents films for the whole family. On movie nights, bring your blankets and lawn chairs to our open-air theatre in downtown Port Hope. Come downtown early to explore our business district, and enjoy a meal (dine-in or takeout) from one of our local restaurants. Some concessions will be available for purchase in the park.  Show time is dusk. Where possible, movies will be shown with subtitles.

This is a solo acoustic performance by 4-time JUNO-nominated folk-pop singer-songwriter Jeremy Fisher. He has released 6 studio albums and his music has been featured on radio, in film (The Big Year, Our Idiot Brother), commercials (Volkswagen, American Airlines), and as main title TV themes (Disney, Global). Over the last 20 years Jeremy has toured the world and shared the stage with artists such as Alanis Morissette, Blue Rodeo and Indigo Girls.

Upon the birth of his daughter, Jeremy Fisher began writing and recording children’s music under the moniker Jeremy Fisher Junior to bring music and storytelling into her everyday life. Jeremy saw the many benefits music had for his daughter – it got her going, it calmed her down, it gave her a framework to express emotions and learn about the world. He knew music could give the same amazing benefits to other children.

In 2019, Jeremy began collaborating with Vérité Films and Hidden Pony Records to create Jeremy and Jazzy and bring his music to life through incredible animated characters that show us how feelings become songs, songs become stories, and music and friendship create joy. He is thrilled to reach more kids with the magic of music with the release of the animated series and Say Hello, a 26-song collection of Jeremy and Jazzy songs.

With the success of Jeremy’s debut children’s album, Highway to Spell, Jeremy performed his songs and stories to kids, parents, caregivers, and educators in theatre venues, festivals, schools and in online concerts reaching Canadians from coast to coast. His performances are entertaining and interactive and illustrate how music can help kids, parents, and everyone face their emotions. They also demonstrate that a visual element helps enhance the benefits of music for kids.

BPAC favourite Classic Albums Live and its roster of A-list musicians from across the country will be performing Led Zeppelin’s Led Zeppelin II exactly as you remember hearing it, note for note, cut for cut.

Led Zeppelin II is the second studio album by the English rock band Led Zeppelin, released on 22 October 1969. The album exhibited the band’s evolving musical style of blues-derived material and their guitar riff-based sound. It has been described as the band’s heaviest album and since its release, various writers and music critics have cited Led Zeppelin II as one of the greatest and most influential albums of all time.

Founded in 2003 by Craig Martin, Classic Albums Live takes the greatest albums and recreates them live on stage – note for note, cut for cut, using the best musicians. “Think of it as a recital,” says Martin, “these albums are historic and stand the test of time.” Forgoing costumes and impersonations, Classic Albums Live has found success in concentrating solely on the music. “We don’t dress up or wear any sort of costume. We just stand there and play. All of our energy is put into the music. We want the performance to sound exactly like the album,” says Martin.
