Haptic Voices by David Bobier and Jim Ruxton is an interactive sound exhibition where visitors lean back against a wall of vibro-tactile speakers to experience sound vibrations through their body.  Different audio compositions made for the system are controlled using an iPad. Haptic Voices is equally accessible to the Deaf, hard of hearing and able-bodied communities.  Join the artists on June 12 at 7 pm for an artist talk and guided listening experience.

J.P. returns to North Bay for an intimate solo show. He was last in North Bay for the East Coast Kitchen Party performance with Jimmy Rankin and Catherine MacLellan but he left the audience wanting more so I am thrilled to have J.P. Cormier back to open the 2025/2026 East Coaster Studios Concert Series – East to West.

The show is being held at one of North Bay’s premier facilities, The Grande Event Centre. Doors open at five with food and drinks available for purchase before the show. A special event menu will be available for dinner and the bar will be open before the show and during intermission. Doors open at 5 P.M. and the show starts at 7 P.M.

J.P. Cormier is a gifted multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter who has released more than a dozen records including two career retrospectives. J.P.’s impressive body of work has earned him a vast and loyal fan base and multiple award nominations and wins, including 14 East Coast Music Awards, Canadian Folk Music Award, five Music Nova Scotia Awards, Juno nominations, commendations from the Governor General of Canada and Premier of Nova Scotia. His 2015 album, The Chance, was nominated for a Juno award in the Traditional Roots Album of the Year category while his 2018 release with Dave Gunning, Gunning & Cormier – Two, won a 2019 East Coast Music Award.

His album, Another Morning, propelled him to singer-songwriter stardom on the East Coast. Some of the performances on that album inspired some of the biggest names in East Coast music; Dave Gunning, Matt Andersen, David Myles, and Joel Plaskett. When North Bay resident, Connor Carruthers, met J.P. for the first time when he was five years old he told J.P. his favourite song was The Molly May.

The North Bay North Stars Hockey is a hockey program for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities. We have three teams for athletes of all ages. People can check us out on Sunday, October 5 from 2 to 3 pm at Pete Palangio arena. Athletes can get on the ice with coaches and players to have fun. Board members and parents will be available to answer any questions. Ask us about our equipment loan program. Helmet and gloves are required. 

Get ready to make your steps count at the 2025 Hike for Hospice, presented by The Degagne Group of Companies—a special 10th anniversary edition of Nipissing Serenity Hospice’s biggest fundraising event of the year! On October 10 at noon, lace up and join us at the hospice (799 John St.) for a memorable in-person hike, complete with a BBQ, exciting awards for top fundraisers, and a high-energy celebration of a decade of support, compassion, and community impact.

Kick off the event with an energizing warm-up led by Amanda from The Next Step Fitness, then enjoy a scenic 20-minute walk through our neighbourhood! After the Hike, head back to the hospice for a delicious BBQ by donation, featuring burgers, hot dogs, and fresh popcorn. A huge thank you to our generous BBQ supporters: M&M Food Market, Vaughan Paper Products, Parker’s Your Independent Grocer, Coca-Cola, and Dempster’s.

Can’t make it to the event or prefer to hike on your own time? You can still create a fundraising page and collect funds, then walk, run, or hike virtually from anywhere October 10–13.
