Light the Way for CMHA-WECB

WHY WE LIGHT THE WAY
Light the Way is an annual awareness and fundraising campaign of the Canadian Mental Health Association, Windsor-Essex County Branch.
Grief affects us all at some point in our lives – whether through the loss of a loved one, the loss of a beloved pet, or the loss of a job. We all experience grief from many sources across our lifetimes, and each of us processes grief in our own unique ways. It is important to have the knowledge and tools to support ourselves and our friends and family as we navigate these difficult times in our lives.
CMHA-WECB’s renowned Bereavement Program has been providing invaluable grief support to our community for almost 50 years. We offer a variety of services including educational seminars and webinars on grieving, coping with loss, and parenting through grief; peer-led support groups based on type of loss; grief therapy for children and youth; and one-on-one therapy for complex grief. The program has made a profound impact on countless lives in our community. However, the provision of this program is reliant on community support.
Our annual Light the Way campaign aims to shine a light on grief, which can be particularly difficult during the holiday season.
MEET LULU!
Inspired by the outpouring of support received when local radio personality Mike Kakuk and his partner Kelly Blais, lost their beloved dog Lulu earlier this year. Their loss highlighted the grief experience and how difficult loss of any kind can be. Lulu is available for purchase via the CMHA-WECB website while quantities last. Thank you to our Lulu sponsor, The Toldo Foundation.
