Community Safety Day welcomes families to Port Colborne Fire Hall on May 10

PORT COLBORNE, ON – Community safety partners will join together to kick off a day of hands-on learning and public safety awareness on Saturday, May 10.

Presented by Port Colborne Fire & Emergency Services, Community Safety Day invites families to explore, engage, and spark important conversations surrounding safety and emergency preparedness. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the free event will feature interactive displays, exhibits, and live demonstrations at Port Colborne Fire Hall, located at 3 Killaly St. W. Complimentary snacks and refreshments will be available throughout the day.

The Bicycle Rodeo, a favourite community activity hosted by the Port Colborne Optimist Club, returns this year. During the activity, children are encouraged to bring their own bicycles and helmets to learn road safety strategies and sharpen their skills with interactive traffic simulations.

“Engaging in conversations about safety is crucial for everyone in the community, regardless of age, and it’s an important step in making emergency preparedness a part of our daily lives,” explains Port Colborne Fire Chief, Stan Double. “Community Safety Day is a great opportunity for us to connect with residents, share valuable information, and raise awareness that could one day safe a life.”

Partnering community safety organizations will also be on site to answer questions and provide safety resources.
