Seeking 13-19 year old adolescents for mental health research

The Queen's Emotions and Risky Behaviour in Youth (QuERBY) Lab is currently recruiting adolescents aged 13-19 for a study that seeks to better understand suicide risk in this age group. This study has been approved by the university's ethics board (TRAQ # 6038354).

To be eligible for this study, you must:

  1. Be 13 to 19 years old
  2. Had recent suicidal thoughts
  3. Be able to read and write fluently in English
  4. Have access to a laptop or computer with access to WiFi and Zoom
  5. Have access to a Smartphone with a reliable data plan or access to WiFi
  6. Have 20/20 or corrected vision
  7. Have a parent/guardian who is willing to provide informed consent and be an emergency contact (for those below 15 years old)
  8. Provide an emergency contact (for those 15 years old and above)

Participants will receive an Amazon e-gift card or SONA credits to thank them for their time and contribution to our study.

Strawberry Social and BBQ June 27th, 2025 5:00pm to 7:00pm

St. Mark's-Barriefield (“The Church on the Hill” on Highway #15, opposite CFB Kingston) is holding a public Strawberry Social & BBQ on FRIDAY June 27th, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm to be held in the Parish Hall (268 Main Street, Barriefield/Kingston East, K7K 6W4). This event is a great fellowship experience for the Parish, plus a wonderful opportunity for members of the Kingston East community to invite friends and neighbours to this delicious event.

The BBQ will be hamburgers and hotdogs with all the condiments, including salads. The dessert will be cake, ice cream and fresh strawberries. Vegan hamburgers, gluten-free buns, gluten-free cake, and dairy-free ice cream will also be available if you notify our church office at 613-546-3386.

The cost is $25.00 per person. Pre-registration is highly recommended to ensure that sufficient food is purchased AND everyone has a place reserved. Please speak with Melody at 613-546-3386 by Wednesday, June 25th.
