Oakville Mayor Rob Burton Talks About Bail Reform
Mayor Rob Burton and Milton Mayor Gord Krantz are calling on Halton regional council to pass a resolution calling on the federal government to table legislation on bail reform at the earliest opportunity, Jason Agnew spoke to the Oakville mayor about why he's attempting to tackle an issue that is under federal jurisdiction at a municipal level.
Herquest For Hospice
In its fifth year raising money for the Townsend Smith Foundation, "herquest for hospice" was born after its founder participated in a similar event raising money for healthcare needs in Montreal. The goal of the race, in Milton, is to raise awareness and money to build a hospice in Halton. It's getting a little closer thanks not only to this event, but also a recent and very significant donation.

New Appleby Library Branch Opening
The Burlington Public Library first opened a branch in south east Burlington in 1965, the skyway branch. In 1971, as the neighbourhood grew it relocated closer to the intersection of Appleby line and New street and was renamed the New Appleby Library, in case you ever wondered why it was called New Appleby. It then moved to it's most recent location at the Appleview plaza... the new New Appleby branch. But today the new new New Appleby branch opened it's doors and Nikki Wesley explains.

Community Development Halton 41st Anniversary
As Community Development Halton celebrates its 41st anniversary one thing has remained consistent. Since day one, the organization has been working to connect the community. While that goal remains the same, some of the challenges have changed over the years. Things like social media, smartphones and increasing poverty are, one could argue, leading to a more disconnected society. Community Development Halton hosted an evening to explore that theme by screening a documentary called, "the great disconnect" before engaging in a panel discussion.
