KEYS Job Centre, Dress for Success & Well Suited Collaborating to Host Suit Up 2019 - Your Resume, Your Outfit & Your Confidence
(Kingston, ON): On February 27th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. KEYS Job Centre and Dress for Success Kingston and Well Suited will open their annual one-day Suit-Up Pop-Up Boutique at the Royal Canadian Legion, 734 Montreal Street.
Nine years ago, Moore’s Canadian Suit Drive, an initiative that provides unemployed Canadians with gently used professional clothing, contacted KEYS Job Centre and asked the not-for-profit organization to be their community partner for the Kingston area. The Suit-Up event gives job seekers an opportunity to choose professional clothing in order to make that important first impression at a job fair, at an interview or for the first day of the job. Over the years, KEYS has reached out to local men’s and women’s clothing stores and professional networks for donations. These generous community donations, have allowed the event to be successful.
“The professional clothing this initiative has received over the years has changed lives and sparked success for hundreds of individuals,” says Gillian Watters, Program Director at KEYS. For the past 5 years, Dress for Success Kingston has partnered with KEYS and last year Well Suited was welcomed as a partner. Dress for Success provides professional attire for women; Well Suited provides a similar service for men. KEYS Job Centre specializes in offering career development support and individualized employment programs for job seekers.
As we approach the Spring Hiring Season, the Suit-Up Pop-Up Boutique will once again offer job seekers an opportunity to choose from hundreds of business outfits. This will ensure that these individuals have the clothing and confidence they need to succeed in their job search. At Suit-Up, our volunteers will work to help a job seeker choose an interview outfit and will also provide guidance and support for any upcoming interviews.
“Job seekers are more successful when they also feel and look their best” states V. Ophelia Rigault, Employment Facilitator at KEYS Job Centre. We want the Suit Up event to be both fun and effective and move job seekers towards success.
Thanks to the generosity of the Moore’s Canadian Suit Drive, over 150 gently used business suits, blazers and shirts are donated each year by their local customer base. Professional women in our community donate women’s business attire and every year the event is bigger and bolder.
