Tri-County Literacy Council is offering free Microsoft Word 2016 training. Learn program basics to create professional-looking documents. Whether you’re wishing to develop your resume, work in an office, or create advertising materials for your business, learning to use Microsoft Word is important. This is a popular, powerful word processing / desktop publishing program. Course topics include:

-Basic Computer Review
-Keyboarding
-Document Formatting
-Saving Files
-Links to other free community resources

Participants also have the opportunity of earning a typing certificate to add to their employment portfolio.

Take advantage of free, quality instruction that is guided and supported by a knowledgeable instructor and experienced classroom volunteers.

Lions Hall: 6:45 pm Silent Auction Bidding Opens during Thursday Night Bingo (auction runs all weekend)

At the Community Hall: 9:30-11:30am Coffee break with treats, 7:30pm 6-hand euchre & light lunch

At the Lions Hall – spaghetti dinner (5pm) and quiz (7pm), $10 for either or both, cash prize $120 to trivia champs.  Cash bar and silent auction.

Saturday July 14th, 2017

In the Community Hall: 8:30-11:30 South Crosby Friendship Club coffee, all-day library book sale, bake sale fundraiser for Elgin Rink, 2pm meet & greet local politicians & candidates

Outside the Community Hall: 9-3 local vendors, pop-up library, live music by local buskers, Elgin Days button sales and information booth, “I heart Elgin” t-shirts and postcards,  lunchtime $3 pulled pork tacos by The Opinicon – all proceeds benefit the Elgin Rink!

Elgin Nursery School: 10am-2pm Toy sale, book sale, open house

Pentecostal Church: (all free!) 8-10am Pancake breakfast, 9:45-1:45 hotdogs, freezies, petting zoo, popcorn, jumpy castle, water, tattoo table, Thomas the Tank Engine table, food donations for Elgin Food Bank gratefully accepted.

Savory and Sweet:   all day outdoor art & craft fair – proceeds to the Elgin Area Heritage Society

Lions Hall: 10am to 4pm Car Lead Acid Battery Drop Off for Disposal - proceeds from batteries donated to North Leeds Toy Drive by Allan Baker (each battery donated = entry to win $50 gift certificate to Junction Restaurant) (no flashlight batteries), community yard sales, canteen.  4pm until sold out Firefighters’ chicken dinner. 4pm to 8pm Beer Garden and live music by Wayne Scott and band.

Red Brick School/Rinkall day Heritage Society treats & treasures, open house, Lyndhurst Turkey Fair quilt raffle, 3pm meet-up for village-wide water fight.  Bring your own water pistols/balloons!

Elgin Fire Hall:  Fire prevention activities, touch-a-fire-truck, fun with Sparky, ice cream sundaes               

Main Street:  Yard sales, bake sales, free horse & carriage shuttle, and more!
