On Saturday, April 26th the Joshua Bates Centre audience will be entertained by two country music singers for the price of one! Erica Brighthill and Dan Petti each have careers of their own but are teaming up when they come to Athens. A journalist for four decades, he has written for many newspapers and magazines in Canada, and is the author of two books of non-fiction, Shopomania: Our Obsession with Possession; and Misfortune and Fame: 10 Reasons You Don’t Want to be Rich (or Famous).

Using humorous anecdotes about the rich and famous, Berton will tell us why money, fame and stuff are a double-edged sword, and how living a simple life can make people happier, the environment healthier and society better.
