Join us April 24th at 6 pm for cocktails, 7 pm for dinner at the Oakville Conference Centre for a three course meal, good company, and a talk "Excess in Our Time" by Paul Berton, editor-in-chief of Metroland Media newspapers and websites, including Hamilton Spectator and London Free Press.

A journalist for four decades, he has written for many newspapers and magazines in Canada, and is the author of two books of non-fiction, Shopomania: Our Obsession with Possession; and Misfortune and Fame: 10 Reasons You Don’t Want to be Rich (or Famous).

Using humorous anecdotes about the rich and famous, Berton will tell us why money, fame and stuff are a double-edged sword, and how living a simple life can make people happier, the environment healthier and society better.

The Kingston Symphony finishes the 2024-2025 season in the most remarkable way we can, with a tribute to one of history’s greatest composers: Maurice Ravel. Our composer festival examines Ravel’s brilliance. From the clarity and innovation of his Tombeau de Couperin to the stunning beauty of his Piano Concerto in G Major courtesy of Avan Yu, pianist extraordinaire, to his Mother Goose Ballet - which concludes in perhaps the single most glorious passage of music ever written - Ravel is a master of melody! Join us for an unforgettable season finale.
