Calling all budding young artists! Participate in the Town of Oakville’s youth mural project

Apply by September 18 for the unique opportunity to showcase your creativity in a public space

The Town of Oakville, in collaboration with the Oakville Youth Action Committee, is excited to announce a unique opportunity for youth aged 13 to 18 to showcase their artistic expression in a public space.

Guided by the expertise of Yen Linh Thai, a local professional artist and accomplished muralist, the Oakville Youth Centre Mural Project invites up to 12 young artists to connect, create and collaborate on an indoor public art mural for the youth centre located at the Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre (QEPCCC).

Participants will meet from October 2023 to March 2024 at QEPCCC on Saturday afternoons to learn various artistic techniques, including collage, drawing, painting and more. They’ll also have the opportunity to workshop their ideas, explore and enhance their artistic talents – all while making a positive contribution to the community and earning 33 volunteer hours as part of their involvement. No prior art experience is necessary to participate.

Apply to the Oakville Youth Centre Mural Project today for the opportunity to help create a captivating large-scale mural at the QEPCCC youth centre. The final mural will be unveiled during National Youth Week from May 1 to 7, 2024.

Ottawa Valley’s very own Grand Masters of Illusion, THE OUTERBRIDGES, are staging MYSTERIES OF THE KEYHOLE HOUSE, one of the most anticipated magical experiences of 2023. The tour of the OV region kicked off with performances in Smiths Falls, Perth and Carleton Place, and now head to the Royal Theatre Thousand Islands in Gananoque Sept 8-16. (Fridays 7:30pm, Saturdays 2:00pm & 7:30pm -- $33 plus HST and Eventbrite fees at https://outerbridge.eventbrite.com.

"The Keyhole House is an enchanting sanctuary inhabited by Ted and Marion Outerbridge, TikTok sensations and headliners at Hollywood's Magic Castle. Beckoned by the spirits of yesteryear, these connoisseurs of all things magical were chosen by the abandoned, dilapidated home to be guardians of this historic gem. As they meticulously restored the creaking floors that carried the weight of countless footsteps, a treasure trove of cherished relics materialized before their eyes."
