Community Event - Brockville/Prescott - Rural Small Business & Agricultural Expo June 8th
Since the decision nearly two years ago not to amalgamate with a neighbouring, larger chamber of commerce, The Lyndhurst, Seeley’s Bay & District Chamber of Commerce has been gaining momentum again. With new marketing and networking initiatives like the upcoming Rural Small Business & Agricultural Expo, the local chamber members plan to highlight the many talented business owners and organizations in the local area.
The new executive team led by President, John Sideris of Wing’s Live Bait & Tackle, has been working hard to create a sense of community within the growing chamber. Thus, it is no surprise that like-minded members have been pitching in to help make the inaugural Expo a success. The event is being co-hosted by Wendy’s Country Market and Furnace Falls Farm, where the event is taking place, Saturday, June 8th.
There is something interesting planned for everyone in the family to enjoy. Local entertainers Josh Mensen and Tao Lynn Hipwell will each be performing and Dawne Fiegen of Wiltse Creek Studio and Connie Zeran of Beyond The Arbour will both be providing artistic demos throughout the day. 1000 Islands Septic & Construction will even be on site with a new screening plant for those curious to see how it works.
For the kids, we will have Maple the cow, the life-sized Holstein cow that provides hands-on learning and fun. Your kids can learn how to milk Maple by hand and see if they can make her MOO! If your kids are looking for the real thing, The Firelight Farmer, Leslie Welch will be bringing a calf, some poultry, and rabbits too. Other vendors promise to have some great draws and prizes available at their booths along with free samples and more.
The event will run from 11 am to 3 pm, and there will be a bin set up to collect food donations for our local food bank. This event will be held rain or shine, in the barn and on the grounds at Furnace Falls Farm #504 Old Briar Hill Rd. Lyndhurst, ON www.furnacefallsfarm.com . Come on out and discover what the businesses in this area have to offer from homemade soap and freshly made cinnamon buns to custom made art and apparel to tree removal services, heating needs, and complete cottage or home renovation services. We will have it all at the 1st Annual Rural Small Business & Agricultural Expo.
