Community Event - Cobourg/Port Hope - Northumerland Film Sundays present the film LUCKY
The film LUCKY follows the spiritual journey of a 90-year-old atheist and the quirky characters that inhabit his off the map desert town. Having out lived and out smoked all of his contemporaries, the fiercely independent Lucky finds himself at the precipice of life, thrust into a journey of self exploration, leading towards that which is so often unattainable: enlightenment. Acclaimed character actor John Carroll Lynch's directorial debut "Lucky", is at once a love letter to the life and career of Harry Dean Stanton as well as a meditation on morality, loneliness, spirituality, and human connection.
NFS - Northumberland Film Sundays offers our community a broad range of movies not otherwise available on our local big screens.Films are selected from a menu of contemporary "hot picks" offered by "The Circuit", a division of the Toronto International Film Festival. We are a not-for-profit group and whol make contributions to Northumberland County charities when a cash surplus permits.
Films are shown at the Rainbow Cinemas at the Northumberland Mall in Cobourg, Ontario at 4.00 pm on selected Sundays. We also produce a Film Festival on a weekend in January - at the same venue. LUCKY will be shown on Sunday, January 7 Tickets are $10 and may be purchased in advance at Bibelot Port Hope or Craft Food House in Cobourg. On the day of the film, tickets are often available at 3:00 pm at the bottom of the elevator in the mall.
