Our presentation for February will start shortly after 7:00 p.m. and features a talk by our well travelled Publicity Director, Rick Stankiewicz. Over the years, Rick has travelled the world looking for people, places and things of astronomical interest and when he is successful, he shares his discoveries with the public and members of the PAA. At this month’s meeting Rick will be giving a travelogue of his trip to see the world famous observatories of Kitt Peak in southern Arizona. Come and explore the mountaintop wonders of an astronomers paradise, where there is the most diverse gathering of astronomical instruments in the world. Rick’s images will give you a guided tour of what he found during his time on one of astronomy’s most famous locations. Come to this meeting and be an armchair astronomer for the evening, see what you have been missing all this time and maybe start planning your next vacation?
Following the main presentation(s) we will look at the “Sky This Month”. Be informed about the locations of the planets of the solar system. There will also be the usual opportunities to come and check out the PAA and all it has to offer, at no cost. This is an all ages meeting and the venue is barrier free. Also, you don’t need a telescope to belong, but a curious mind helps.
