Tecumseh Parks & Recreation, in partnership with the Windsor-Essex Healthy Kids Community Challenge, invites families to “Power OFF and Play!” with five Family Game Nights through March and April at the Tecumseh Recreation Complex and Arena, 12021 McNorton Street.

These FREE, family-engaging evenings will include an assortment of board games, tabletop games and giant lawn games. Residents are encouraged to come with family members or attendees may join with another group at the event. Games Nights are a great way to get out and meet others in Tecumseh while participating in a fun screen free event.

The Healthy Kids Community Challenge is all about helping Ontario children make healthier choices. Over the next several months, our Healthy Kids Community Challenge community will be working to encourage children and families to build a balance day that is not filled with screen time. The Tecumseh Family Game Nights will be offered in a “screen-free zone”, encouraging participants to put mobile and screen devices away while participating.

The Tecumseh Family Game Nights are 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on the following days: Friday, April 13, 2018; Friday, April 20, 2018; and, Friday, May 25, 2018. For more information visit www.tecumseh.ca or call the Tecumseh Parks & Recreation Department at 519-735-4756.

Spay/Neuter Vouchers for Cats to Return Starting March 7

The City of Windsor is pleased to once again offer its Spay/Neuter Voucher Program for cats. This year’s $20,000 program was approved by City Council in the 2018 Operating Budget.

In an effort to reduce the number of homeless cats and number of cats euthanized in the city, 260 vouchers will be issued to sterilize cats.  The vouchers are valued at $75 each and will be available starting Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. (Please note: 311 will not accept requests for this program prior to that time).

Vouchers for owned cats are reserved for low-income families, therefore a declaration of income will be required in order to qualify.  A maximum of 2 vouchers per household will be issued where the cats are owned.  For feral cat caregivers, a maximum of 2 vouchers per household will be issued with no income restrictions. In both cases, applicants must be over the age of 18.

Vouchers are non-transferrable and expire on June 7, 2018. They may be redeemed at any participating veterinary clinic (list of clinics will be provided upon successful application), and recipients must call and book appointments for spay/neuter services in advance.

Vouchers will be once again issued through the City’s 311 service. Interested residents -must CALL 311 to inquire, but no earlier than 11:00 a.m. on March 7, (no text or email requests will be accepted) and those who meet the eligibility criteria will receive their vouchers in the mail.

Program details and updates will be available at www.citywindsor.ca or by calling 311.
