Kyle McLouglin will give a lecture on the "Urban Forest Master Plan & Woodlot Management Strategy: What They Plant and Why".  He is the Supervisor of Forestry for the City of Burlington, Health in Roads, Parks and Forestry Department.   Kyle enjoys nature and is vigilant to protect the surrounding native species in our urban forests. Always willing to share information and to take group walks with people to showcase the beauty of the surrounding forest within our city.   

All gardeners of all levels are welcome to attend.   Event is free.  Registration not required.

Community Event - Peterborough/Lindsay - Charity Euchre for first responder Wounded Warrior

A charity progressive euchre game in support of mental health programs run by Wounded Warriors Canada. Participants play euchre in a tournament-style format, moving from table to table after each round, allowing players to meet new opponents throughout the event. The Legion Bar will be open and light refreshments/snacks are provided at the end of the night. 7:00 pm start 10 games total. $10 per person to play, no partners required. Registration & 50/50 proceeds goes to Wounded Warriors Canada, a national mental health chairity with programs for veterans, first responders and their families.

Community Event - Burlington/Oakville - Canadian Club Halton Hosts Dr. Blair Bigham

The Canadian Club of Halton is excited to announce that Dr. Blair Bigham, an award-winning journalist, scientist and physician will be the guest speaker for the January 18th dinner at the Oakville Conference Center.  Bigham is co-host of the CMAJ Podcast and deputy editor at healthydebate.ca   His first book, “Death Interrupted: How Modern Medicine is Complicating the Way We Die”, a National Best Seller, was released in September 2022 and will be available to purchase at the event.  The combined 3-course dinner and speaker presentation is $60.00/member and $70.00/non-member.  However, space is limited and sales at the door are not possible.  Doors open at 6:00pm with advance ticket registration on-line at  www.canadianclubhalton.ca and e-transfer available at pmt@canadianclubhalton.ca  Registration closes Midnight Monday, January 15, 2024.
