Knitterati is Belleville Public Library's knitting circle. Bring your current project to work on while you chat with fellow knitters, crocheters, cross-stitchers and other fibre arts crafters. Whether it's your first time casting-on or you've been at it for a lifetime, all levels of skill and all ages are welcome.  

Knitterati meets every Wednesday at 5:30pm in the second floor Reading Nook.

Belleville Public Library's Adult Chess Club meets every second Monday at 5:30pm. Bring your own chess board or borrow one from the library and meet with fellow chess players for a friendly game. All skill levels are invited to this informal, self-led program.

Open for nominations now until July 15, 2023

Do please walk, drive, cycle, jog around our Town and take note of good looking front gardens.

Do write the addresses down and submit to the following before July 15th.

Email your nominations to:  frontgardenbhs@gmail.com 

You may nominate your own garden. a friend's or neighbour's or family member's garden

 or that of a total stranger.  You may nominate more than one garden.

Gardens will be judged shortly after July 15th.

Each of the ten winners will be asked to display a sign from us saying they have won 

and receive a cheque for $25.

Drop in at Belleville Public Library and use our Cricut equipment:

  • Maker cutting machine
  • Mug Press
  • Easy Press 2

Use of the equipment is free and first come, first served. Bring your own supplies or purchase from our selection of materials.  Library staff will be available to assist you in using the software and equipment.

We invite you to join the BPL Adult Summer Reading Club 2023!

Complete fun reading challenges, enter to win prizes, and discover (or rediscover) joy in reading this summer. Pick up your BPL Adult Summer Reading booklet from the second floor Information Desk starting June 24.

Use your booklet to track the books you read and the challenges you complete. Bring your booklet to the second floor Information Desk to report your reading and enter the draws.  There will be several draws throughout the summer. Visit us as often as you’d like to claim entries and tell us what you've been reading. 

Be sure to have your entries in before these dates. All entries will stay in the ballot box after each draw.

  • Thursday July 13: Mid-Summer Prize 
  • Thursday August 3: Mid-Summer Prize #2
  • Thursday August 31: Grand Prize 

All are welcome to join the club. A valid Belleville or Quinte West library card is required to enter the prize draws.

Welcome to Belleville Public Library 2023 Summer Programs! This year's theme is The Great Canadian Adventure. Our summer programs run from July 3 to August 17. We will be offering children's programming every day except for Fridays, Sundays and Holidays. Visit bellevillelibrary.ca/summer2023 for full details of events. Summer Reading Club materials can be picked up from the Readers' Advisory desk on the first floor of the library.

Most of our summer events are drop-in. However, some events require registration due to supplies, technology needed and room capacity limits. For these events, we please ask that you pre-register. Visit bellevillelibrary.ca/summer2023 to register for events.

Community Event - Ottawa Valley - Annual Seniors BBQ in the Park by Seniors at Home

A fun event for seniors or adults with disabilities in the community. Held on Thursday July 20 (rain date July 27) from 12-2pm at Robert Simpson Park. BBQ includes hamburger, fries, drink and icecream. Gillan Rutz will entertain. Tickets $10 available from the agency office until July 18th.
