Children play acted by children... The indomitable Puss acquires a pair of magic boots belonging to an evil, shape shifting ogre. He uses them (and his wits) to bring fortune, an enchanted castle, and a princess bride to his beloved master, Jack, whom he fashions as the Marquis of Carabas as part of his clever scheme. Give your whole family a summertime treat with this most excellent adaptation of the classic fairy tale.

Empowered Seniors Speaker Series Launches Free Education for our Aging Populations

Monthly seminars and panels will help seniors navigate retirement living and later-in-life concerns

Halton and Hamilton area residents of retirement age and beyond will now have free access to monthly seminars addressing topics that matter to people 55+. Even with information available at our fingertips, confusion and information overload is common. These monthly panels and presentations will equip attendees with essential information about a variety of topics.

This series of candid conversations and panels with experts will encourage discussion around the often complex issues facing our aging population. Every month, in a 1.5 hour live event, the Empowered Seniors Speaker Series will provide quality education about important subjects, while simultaneously giving seniors access to resources and people they can trust.

“The aim is to build a community of informed seniors,” says organizer and Burlington Realtor™ Marion Goard. “We want to bring people together to learn about issues they may face, how changes in legislation may affect them and their families, and how they can plan for the immediate future with confidence.”

The series will debut with Estates, Assets, Taxes and the Law on June 14th, followed by Being Prepared Financially for Aging (July 12th), Advanced Care Planning (August 9th) and The Impact of the More Homes Built Faster bill (September 13th).

“There is a lot of information out there,” Goard says, “but how do you figure out what is truthful and what is scare-mongering? We want to give people the facts, empowering them to make decisions they can feel good about.”  The Speaker Series offers regular opportunities for candid conversations in a safe environment with acknowledged experts on the subjects being discussed.

The series will take place monthly at the Burlington Central Library (Centennial Hall), from 1:30 p.m to 3:00 p.m.. Admission is free for those age 55 or older and their guests. Space is limited so reservations are strongly recommended. Reservations can be made on www.empoweredseniors.ca or by calling  905-330-5201.

Opportunities are available for Educational Partners seeking to build deeper connections with the thriving community of seniors and their families. Educational Partners spots are available for the 2023 sessions. Educational Partners will be presented and highlighted at each session and in all promotional materials. As part of your package, your logo will appear on all promotional materials including advertising and electronic media associated with the events for the balance of the year. For more information, please reach out to Marion Goard at the contact information below.
