Description: The St. Clair Catholic District School Board has partnered with Noelle’s Gift to Children to bring Max Stossel to Chatham / Sarnia. Max is an award-winning poet, filmmaker and speaker, named by Forbes as one of the best storytellers of the year. Max is also the Youth & Education Advisor for the Center for Humane Technology, an organization of former tech insiders dedicated to realigning technology with humanity’s best interests. He has also founded the Social Awakening, where he has travelled the world speaking to 100,000+ students, parents, and educators about social media’s impact on our lives and resources to help manage that impact. We are extending a personal invitation to you and your organization as we believe the impact of technology and social media on our children and community is greater than we realize. Our school board is working hard to promote positive mental health and overall wellbeing for our students and their families. We have all witnessed the impact of social media/technology has on our mental health and wellbeing in our communities and the role it plays in servicing our citizens. We believe that greater awareness about this issue can lead to more accountability for the use of Big Tech. We look forward to learning together as we gain a behind-the-scenes perspective on the Big Tech industry and hear from Max ways we can address this issue and support our next generation. Max will be speaking at the Capitol Theatre Rotary Lounge in Chatham on April 13th at 6:30pm / at the Dante Club in Sarnia on April 14th at 7:00pm. Tickets are available from Noelle’s gift: https://noellesgift.ca/event/does-social-media-impact-your-child-teens-wellbeing-by-max-stossel/ If you have any questions about this event, please contact Chris Preece at chris.preece@sccdsb.net or Kelsey Foster at Kelsey.foster@sccdsb.net .
