Public Notices/Announcements - Peterborough/Lindsay - Volunteers needed for Christmas kettles

The Salvation Army Christmas Kettles are out in the community!  Something you see every year to symbolize that Christmas is coming – but what are they really raising money for?

In short, the answer is our community! Here at The Salvation Army in Peterborough, we strive to help those who need it the most. We do that through our Food Bank, our Breakfast Program, Christmas food hampers, Christmas toy shop, and much more.  From January 1 to September 30 this year, 11,070 meals were provided at our breakfast program, and our Food Bank reached more than 2,800 households.  Last Christmas, 2,046 individuals and families received food hampers, and toys were provided to almost 2,600 children.

In order for us to offer such services, we rely heavily on the money raised from the Christmas Kettle campaign.  Last year our goal of $85,000 was met, and we are looking to exceed that total this season.  However, that goal can only be accomplished through the generosity of our fellow community members.

Your donations, no matter how big or small, are important, whether they be of a monetary nature or donations of your time. Volunteers are a substantial support to what we as The Salvation Army do. If you would be willing to give some of your time as a volunteer for The Christmas Kettle Campaign, it would be greatly appreciated!

We are so unbelievably grateful for the kindness of others as we strive to support our community during the Christmas season and throughout the year. If you would like to be a part of this incredible community response, please contact The Salvation Army at (705) 742-4391, ext 27.

This event has been CANCELLED

Jazz violinist, San Murata, and pianist, Mitchell Cox, will offer up a jazzy celebration of the arts with this concert and fine art sale, featuring art created by San Murata.  One of a handful of people playing jazz violin, San Murata has become one of the most in-demand and appreciated musicians on the Toronto jazz scene. The national jazz awards have nominated San 4 times as “Best Violinist of the Year”.  San’s beautiful paintings stylistically and deceptively depict scenes from where he has traveled. He is very well known in Japan as a visual artist and sells many paintings wherever he goes in both Japan and Canada.  A percentage of sales of the artwork will be directed to support Bridge Street United Church.  FREEWILL OFFERING - Pay What you can!
