Oakville Ghosts Walks

October 11 @ 6:30-9:30PM

Enjoy a family-oriented, eerie walk into 1850s Olde Oakville. Be led by the ghost of a mayor, a merchant, a Chisholm relative, or someone else. Each ghost shares their life with you while meeting other characters and hearing ghost stories. Each walk is about an hour. Two walks a night + refreshments.

Come join the Peterborough Astronomical Association (PAA) on Saturday, August 12th to view the annual Perseid Meteor Shower, at Harold Town Conservation Area (located 3.5 km east of Television Road on the Old Norwood Road, on the south side just before the Drummond Line), starting at 9:00 p.m. until the wee hours of the 13th.  As always, this event is free and open to the public and fun for all ages.  One night of the year worth staying up for…what better way to spend a Saturday night in the summer!

Although optical aids are not needed for the meteor shower, members of the PAA will have telescopes and binoculars set up to view other wonders of the night sky. Bring your own binoculars and there will guided tours of constellations and night sky gems! Catch a glimpse of Mars as it maybe visible in the early evening after sunset, along with many star clusters and galaxies will be visible as the evening progresses. There will also be a chance to see Saturn and its “rings” as the Moon will fortunately not be an issue  for viewing meteors this year.

The PAA will use the area adjacent to the parking lot at Harold Town C.A.. Come dressed and prepared to spend time outside. See you there and keep looking up!

This is a weather dependent event. If the skies are cloudy & precipitating, the event will be canceled that evening. Please check the PAA website for the status, the day of this event.

The Turkey Trot has always been about creating a family friendly local event that supports the 
YMCA Strong Communities Campaign
- supporting children, teens, adults and seniors in our community who are in need of assistance by eliminating financial barriers. 

We offer a fun experience that provides much needed funds to the YMCA to allow them to continue their great work helping individuals and families.

Not only do you get to have fun and help the community, you have the chance to win an amazing prize by random drawings.

You can put some turkey fun into your run/walk and try for the Golden Drumstick trophy and prize.

The September exhibit in the Joyner Gallery of the Niagara Pumphouse Arts Centre is dedicated to showcasing the mixed media collage, paintings and sculptures of Niagara-on-the-Lake artist Ronald Boaks. 

Adorning the walls of the gallery are Ronald Boaks' art pieces. The artworks are a unique assemblage of various artistic mediums, including drawings, monoprints, paintings, and still life photographs. These diverse elements have been created and collected by Ronald Boaks over the course of the last thirty years, providing viewers with a retrospective look at the evolution of his creative expression over the years.

Visitors to the gallery will have the opportunity to explore not only the artist's captivating mixed media collages but also his intriguing sculptures. These sculptures are crafted using a combination of wood, steel, and stone, resulting in dynamic and thought-provoking three-dimensional pieces.

Join us on Sunday, Sept 3rd from 2:00-4:00 pm for an opening reception and an opportunity to meet Ronald Boaks in person. Admire the paintings over nibbles and refreshments with other art appreciators. Remarks at approximately 2:30 p.m.
