Meals on Wheels is currently seeking volunteers to help out 1-2 days a month with delivering meals to seniors living in Chatham-Kent.

Hot meals are delivered every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 noon.

Meals on Wheels is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the health and well-being of seniors by providing hot and nutritious meals three days a week.

As part of the Museums ongoing Reclaiming Cultural Identity initiatives, the Niagara Falls History Museum has teamed up with Kimberly White-Atkins of Talking Turtle Baskets for a Longhouse Basket Workshop.

Kimberly is Akwesasne Mohawk of the Turtle Clan. She has been making black ash and sweetgrass baskets for 11 years. She is passing down her knowledge to her children and hopefully to her grandchildren, so they may carry on the tradition of basket making.

BOOK LAUNCH MARKS 92ND ANNIVERSARY OF DRILL BOAT EXPLOSION

            “This is a story that comes from my heart,” says author and acclaimed storyteller Deborah Dunleavy of her newly released historical fiction Unsayable Absence.

                On June 26, 1930, the J.B. King Drill Boat was blasting its way through the 1000 Islands when a bolt of lightning struck the barge setting off two tons of dynamite. Thirty men lost their lives including Dunleavy’s grandfather Jack Wylie. This tragic event is pivotal to the storyline of Dunleavy’s newly released historical fiction, Unsayable Absence.

BOOK LAUNCH On Thursday, June 30th at 2pm at the Brockville Museum, 5 Henry Street, Brockville Deborah reads passages from her novel, talks about her family connections to the drill boat explosion, and shares her extensive research. Copies of Unsayable Absence may be purchased at the event.

Father’s Day Weekend - Mark your Calendar and order your concert tickets for the 2022 Carpenter’s Local 1256 Sarnia Kinsmen Ribfest presented by the Sarnia Construction Association. The 23rd annual, three-day event will be held at Centennial Park, June 17-19 Father’s Day weekend. What better gift for Dad than great food and Entertainment! This beautiful waterfront park is located in the heat of Downtown and is a perfect venue to celebrate Father’s Day weekend! The Sarnia Kinsmen Ribfest has become a marque, signature event with an annual attendance of 15,000. This three-day event offers, fall off the bone ribs, great food, family entertainment and well know musical acts, that will surely be enjoyed by residents and visitors alike. The Sarnia Kinsmen Ribfest committee has secured 4 professional rib teams and 10 bands. There will also be an artesian area as well as additional food vendors and a beer tent.

• Sunday June 19, 2022 12:00 PM until 7:00 PM - FREE ADMISSION all day Tickets for the concert are $20 for Friday night, $20 for Saturday night or $35 for a weekend pass.
