Hastings County Historical Society and Belleville Public Library Present: The Life of Botanist John Macoun

03:00 PM — 04:00 PM

Join Belleville Public Library and The Hastings County Historical Society for a free virtual talk!  Irish-born John Macoun was Canada's foremost field naturalist. The self-taught botanist catalogued 100,000 plants, which are now housed in the National Herbarium of Canada at the Canadian Museum of Nature in Ottawa.  It was during this time teaching at Albert College in Belleville that he decided to devote his life to botany. He was appointed Chair of Natural Science at the college in 1869. John Macoun was a major influence in the routing of the Canadian Pacific Railway.  In this free Zoom webinar, Historical Society President Richard Hughes takes a look at the life of John Macoun.  Wednesday, September 29 at 3:00 PM.  Register in advance at: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_ZVb7gZsRQAK7dICRw0kK5Q After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.
