The CHCN is so excited to announce that our very own ‘Community Food Market’ is up and running!
This new pilot project will run until Spring of 2024 and will offer a weekly food market in the south entrance of the CHCN every Thursday afternoon from 1pm-4pm.
After receiving an Ontario Trillium Grant from the Provincial Government, and hiring a market coordinator (A big welcome to Joelle Pegg on joining the CHCN team!) we will be offering local produce and food products to the community at an affordable cost. By purchasing directly from from local farmers, working with product that is in season, and from financial support through the grant, we are able to offer foods at a reduced cost to help community members stretch their food dollars a little bit further.
All funds generated from this market will be put back into our food security programming to continue to develop our services. This market is open to all community members and for anyone who would like to support the sustainability of this project, we of course are happy to accept any donations – whether it be financial support or some delicious produce from your garden!
Come and say hi to Joelle and the team every Thursday from 1-4pm!
