Today, updated municipal by-laws across Ontario empower homeowners to build one or more legal secondary units on their properties, including basement apartments and detached garden suites of up to 800 square feet. To mobilize homeowners and raise awareness about the life-changing potential of secondary suites, Garth Brown, in partnership with Halton Women's Place and Home Suite Hope, will host a housing information session on Tuesday, September 23rd. Jason Agnew chatted with Garth to get more information on Haven to Home but started with how he got involved with the cause.

Mayor Marianne Meed Ward Explains Why Burlington is Installing Speed Cameras
Earlier this afternoon the City of Burlington installed "municipal speed camera coming soon" signs to give drivers at least 90 days' notice before the automated speed enforcement cameras are installed and activated. Turns out it was a very interesting day for the city to do so considering it was just this morning that the Mayor of Vaughan Steven Del Duca announced that his municipality would be putting an abrupt halt to their automated speed enforcement program that they launched since the drivers amassed over 30 thousand tickets within 3 weeks of the program going into effect. Jason Agnew asked Mayor Marianne Meed Ward why the City of Burlington has opted to go down the highly debated path of automated speed enforcement.

Herquest For Hospice
In its fifth year raising money for the Townsend Smith Foundation, "herquest for hospice" was born after its founder participated in a similar event raising money for healthcare needs in Montreal. The goal of the race, in Milton, is to raise awareness and money to build a hospice in Halton. It's getting a little closer thanks not only to this event, but also a recent and very significant donation.
