One person’s unwanted but reusable items are someone else’s treasure. During Curbside Giveaway Days, place used items that are in good condition on your property (next to the sidewalk or curb) for others to take. This initiative gives useful items a new life while keeping them out of the landfill. It also encourages recycling, builds a stronger community and contributes to a more sustainable city.

Welcome Home Kits
Welcome Home Kits provide basic household supplies to individuals and families transitioning from shelters to permanent housing. These kits enable recipients to start their new lives with the materials required to cook and serve meals and to attend to personal hygiene. United Way Niagara works with individuals, groups, organizations, and partners to provide new household kitchen and bathroom items, to assemble into useful kits, and distribute to local agencies to provide to their clients. Since the program was established in 2012, over 3,700 kits have been distributed across Niagara to individuals and families in need.

Port Cares Drive-Thru Soupfest
Port Cares hosted another successful Drive-Thru Soupfest event to raise funds and awareness for their Reach Out Centre. Three delicious soups were cooked in-house by Chef Aldo Ramirez and dozens of staff and volunteers delivered the meals to the participants' vehicles. Brenda Schultz files this report.
