Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity Restore in Bracebridge is always looking for your support, and over the next 3 days they encourage you to do a little shopping, and receive a small token in honour of Valentine's Day. Here's the details.
Digging Out
Muskoka is digging out after the latest blast of winter.
National Cupcake Day
Many are supporting National Cupcake Day to help raise funds for animals including a local Bracebridge resident. Here's Samantha Johnson with more on that.
Gravenhurst Rotary Recognition Program

Windy winter day in Muskoka
Snow squall warning in effect for Feb 8 2019:
- Bracebridge - Gravenhurst
- Huntsville - Baysville
- Port Carling - Port Severn
- Town of Parry Sound - Rosseau - Killbear Park
Snow squalls and strong winds this morning.
An intense snow squall is coming onshore from near Parry sound south towards MacTier and extending inland towards Huntsville. This snow squall should remain relatively stationary for the next few hours before shifting southward later this morning.
Strong westerly winds gusting up to 80 km/h are also occurring today. These strong winds will generate near zero visibilities in blowing snow.
Local snowfall amounts near 15 cm per 12 hours are possible in the strongest snow squalls.
Visibility will be suddenly reduced to near zero at times in heavy snow and blowing snow. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Road closures are possible.
Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ONstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
Engage Muskoka
The District of Muskoka has launched a communications initiative to better engage the public on updates and information about various capital projects happening in Huntsville. The District held an information session on Feb. 6. Engage Muskoka is the one-stop shop to everything you need to know about these projects.
Gravenhurst Roads
With many changes in the weather from snow to freezing rain some roads around the region have been tricky to drive on. Here's Samantha Johnson with more on that.
Rally Against Cuts to Education
Teachers, education workers, parents and community allies are planning to rally against cuts to education in front of Norm Miller’s office on Thursday, February 7 from 4:15-4:45. This will coincide with rallies across Ontario at most MPPs offices.
