Seniors 60+ are invited to get active, make friends, be well! Prince Edward Community Care offers over 50 online events each month for seniors 60+. Online Zoom fitness and arts classes along with socials are held Monday to Friday. In August, the Zoom webinar topics include “2023 Marine Update from the PEC OPP” with Constable Aaron Miller; “How to Stay Safe Online” with Aaron Nash from Prince Edward County Public Library; “Good Food Market-fresh fruits/veggies at a good price” with Scott Whitelock from Prince Edward Learning Centre; and “Virtual Bingo” with Community Care Staff. Community Care now offers a phone only option for these zoom webinars – no computer is needed. Recreational drugs take center stage with this unique pairing of authors sharing their life stories in a unique joint author event at Oakville Public Library's central branch. This free event spotlights two authors whose recent books have caused a stir in literary circles over the last year. Bad Trips by Slava Pastuk chronicles a journalists' meteoric descent from acclaimed VICE magazine writer/reporter to being a drug smuggler in prison while Babble On offers another unique perspective on drug culture as Andrew Brobyn recounts his decade long post-acid trip journey to redemption.
Join the Nipissing Naturalists, North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority, Friends of Laurier Woods and more for a fun filled day to celebrate the annual Louise de Kiriline Lawrence Nature Festival. Everyone is welcome to meet in the Brule Street parking lot to enjoy guided hikes, crafts for kids, bird ID game cards, vendors and nature photography prints for sale. Guided hikes include a Forest Bathing Walk, bird hike and insect hike. Everyone is welcome to this free event.
